Dallahan a big noise in international folk scene
A FOLK band hailed by radio host Mark Radcliffe as ‘one of the most exciting’ acts in their field is coming to Runcorn.
Dallahan is now a force in the international folk music scene, having been forged in Scotland’s world of traditional music but drawing on the styles of the Balkans and North America, blending their contemporary influences from jazz, funk, and pop music.
A spokeswoman said Dallahan aim to take listeners on a journey traversing styles and nations in a dazzling live show to create their own brand of world folk performed with ‘stunning virtuosity’.
She said: “Since the band’s formation five years ago, they have toured extensively in Europe, North America and even represented Britain at the bicentenary British-Nepalese celebrations in Kathmandu.
“Autumn 2018 sees the release of the band’s third album, Smallworld; with songs that explore themes ranging from unrequited love, famine, racial inequality and big birds while instrumentals transcend from traditional Irish tunes to genre-defying originals.
“Dallahan will be touring the UK in support of the album’s November launch.”
Dallan are at The Brindley on Tuesday, November 13.
The show starts at 8pm, tickets £13 from 0151 907 8360 or www.thebrindley.org.uk ●
