Xmas party food appeal

-

DONATIONS of tinned goods and food items to make hampers are needed for Halton Borough Council’s Sure Start to Later Life Christmas party.

The team is expecting around 100 people and is aiming to give everyone a Christmas card and present.

Council officers are also collecting unwanted gifts, alcohol, tinned biscuits and chocolates, and anything else, which may be suitable to be given as a gift.

The team works with older, often vulnerable, lonely and isolated people, living within the community, and for some, this Christmas Party will be the only time during the festive season they will have the opportunity to have some company, and a chance to enjoy getting out and meeting people.

With this in mind, the Sure Start To Later Life staff are going all out to make this a special event.

Halton Borough Council’s executive board member for health and wellbeing, Cllr Marie Wright, said: “We have been truly overwhelmed with the response we received previous years from Halton Borough Council staff, their friends and families and local business large and small.

“People’s generosity, during these difficult financial times, is remarkable and with your help, we aim to make this year even better.”

Anyone able to make a contribution and would like to donate to a good cause, can drop any items off at Grangeway Community Centre. Alternatively, they can be collected if necessary.

The team can be contact by phone on 01928 569 498, or email suzanne.toner@halton. gov.uk
