-

ON Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued with round seven being played.

Halton Stadium playing at home, suffered their first league defeat as they took on the Mill Brow SC.

They conceded the first game to the Brow’s Ray Linger. And even though Eddie Dootson levelled for the Stadium, the Brow’s Chris Bright and opening pair, Chris Bright & Paul Woodward widened the gap further still. A win from the Stadium’s John Bowles & Alan Magee did cut the gap to 3-2.

The Brow, though, were not to be outdone this time, as taking two in row via Dave Powell & Ray Linger and Brian Spruce in the singles ensured their victory. Kenny Murphy took the penultimate game for the Stadium, but it was too little too late as their fate was already sealed. To round off their success, Dave Powell with an 11-darter added the final game to the Mill Brow SC’s already victorious tally.

The Ball at home to Widnes Cricket Club took the first game through Peter Jerram (16 darts). The Cricket Club then levelled via Ben Hewitt. The Ball followed with two in a row from Ste Whitfield and their opening pair Ste Whitfield & Peter Jerram (19 darts). The Cricket Club came back to level with two of their own from Adam Mellor & Ben Hewitt and Ernie Griffiths & Mike Parr making it 3-3.

The Ball were determined as wins from James Holden (19 darts) and Peter Kneale ensured their victory with one game still to play. This was taken by the Cricket Club’s Billy Cain, but it was merely a consolation.

The Cricketers Arms then levelled things up via Paul Mason.

This parity was not to last as Farnworth rallied, taking the next five games through John Leather, Keith Allen & Carl Bryan, Ian Sharples & Alan Rigby, Trevor Chadwick & John Leather (15 darts) and Bernie Teebay to guarantee their match victory.

Tony Ainsworth claimed the penultimate game for the Cricketers Arms, whilst Farnworth SC’s Ian Woodward took the final game wrapping up a 7-2 triumph.

Widnes BC ‘A’ at home to the Millfield took the first game through Tommy Robertson.

The Millfield then quickly matched this through Ian Wall. The Bowler then stormed to a match success winning the next six games via Alex McGill (16 darts), Alan Clark & Alex McGill, Joe Batty & Scott Grady, Tommy Robertson & Tex Bowles (17 darts), Scott Grady (13 darts) and Joe Batty (15 darts).

The Mersey Hotel at home to the Goldmine conceded the first three games to the visitors’ Peter Mullally, Jack Dunn and Adam Mullally.

The Mersey’s opening pair, Danny Cotterill & Sharon Unsworth recovered a point, but that was to be as good as it got for their team as the Goldmine stormed ahead, taking the final five games and the match through Sean Bell & Ray O’Connor, Barry Noonan & Jack Dunn, Lee Hayes (10 darts), Anton Conroy and Ray O’Connor.

Simms Cross Institute at home to Widnes BC ‘B’ saw the visitors’ Dave Cowan (14 darts) and Dave Batty take the first two games.

The Stute hit back to level via Andy Abbott and opening pair Brian Dutton & Glyn Owen. The Stute went on to take the lead with a 16-darter from Ray Dutton & Ged McPartland. However, parity ensued through Dave Batty & Andy Ruane.
