ALIVERPOOL fan from Runcorn is hoping to sell his unique ‘0006 LFC’ prestige number plate to someone at the club after the team won its sixth Champions League trophy.

Norman Atherton, 65,

bought b hh the prestige i plate l from the DVLA in 2006 for £800 after the Reds’ fifth European Cup victory the previous year.

At the time he was anticipating that the team would win it again for a sixth time, coming close in 2007 when the side lost to AC Milan.

Twelve years later and his foresight has finally come to fruition after Liverpool’s l’ two-nil il win i over Tottenham on June 1 to lift the Champions League trophy for a sixth time, confirming the club’s status as football royalty having won more European Cups than anyone except AC Milan and Real Madrid.

Now retired, Norman said his ‘ultimate plate’ was always intended as an investment to top up his ● pension, but that it would be a special ‘buzz’ to see it on the LFC team coach.

He said that since June’s historic cup triumph in Madrid, interest in the plate has been ‘ridiculous’, with people ‘ noticing it everywhere’.

Former Ford worker Norman said the number six was given added significance by Jurgen Klopp singing Let’s Talk About Six, Baby – a football version of the Salt ‘N’ Pepper 1991 pop classic – which went viral on social media.

He said: “I had an inkling we would do it again, it took 13 years but we got there eventually.

“It’s (his hope for the plate) an awkward one.

“My daughter sent me an email saying I would love to see a player with that or Jurgen Klopp – he’s made a big thing about the song Let’s Talk About Six.

“It’s synonymous – the crowd at the cup are going to relive it forever.

“I would love to get the players interested and if the players get interested the sky’s the limit.”

The plate has always turned heads, he said.

Norman added: “I’ve had it on my cars since 2006.

“I went for a meal in Acton Bridge with my partner, she was outside and someone tapped me on the shoulder and said ‘is that your car? You’ve just bought that’.

“I’ve had it and about a group of 10 people and they were all pointing and looking at it. “It creates a stir. “Now’s the time to top up my pension.”
