No stopping the unbeaten super Spartans

-

converting the point after making the score 20-0 to Spartans

The Spartans defence continued to dominate the Raiders offence and on the next drive Charlie Nash intercepted the Raiders quarterback and made a great return setting up great field position for the Spartans offence.

The Spartans offence drive started with a great run by Carwyn Chamberlain, that then set up a couple of Spartan firsts – next up was a superb across the middle reception from rookie receiver Kevin Plat for his first ever reception, and then up stepped receiver Josiah Raphael to execute a great reverse play and sprint into the endzone for his first ever touchdown.

The point after was missed making the score Raiders 26-0.

The Raiders offence again could make any ground with another three and out, this time though the punt was returned by Leon Tatlock who stormed his way into the endzone for a touchdown.

The Raiders received the ball at the start of the 3rd quarter and looked to have made some adjustments and completed a first down, only to see on the next play their quarterback again be picked off by Charlie Nash for his second interception of the day.

Unfortunately, the Spartans offence didn’t make the first down on their next drive despite going for it on fourth down. The Raiders offence took to the field and put together a decent drive completing a couple of first downs, only to see their running back fumble the ball, which was recovered by defensive end Dave Quinn who sprinted 40 yards for the touchdown.

Ross Dryden completed the point. ●

With the running clock now in force the third quarter closed out quickly, and the fourth quarter also went very quickly. The Spartans defence continued to hold the Raiders offence

to minimal first downs, and the Spartans offence finished off the day with Rik Lowthion connecting with receiver Ross Dryden for his second touchdown of the day, which he then

converted the point after taking his personal tally for the day to 17 and bring the score to 47-0, which remained until the end of the game.
