John Bowles them over to win Lightfoot

ON Monday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 Finals & Presentati­on night was held at Widnes Bowling Club.

In the first semi-final of the William Saxon Secretarie­s Cup Finals, Barry Noonan took on Andy Abbott and saw Abbott win in two straight legs.

In the second semi-final, Sean Bell beat Mike Howard in two straight legs including an 18 dart display and a 108 finish, to take the match.

In the final, Andy Abbott won in a closely fought encounter, beating Bell by two legs to one, to take the William Saxon Secretarie­s Cup.

In the first semi-final of the Derek Lightfoot Achievers Cup Finals, Lee Hayes took on John

Bowles, but it was to be a Bowles’ night as he went through to the next round in two straight legs.

In the second semi-final, Paul Linger played teammate Dave Powell, and it was Powell who won by two games to one.

In the final, John Bowles won in two straight legs, to take the Derek Lightfoot trophy.

In the first semi-final of the Mill Brow SC 501 Pairs Finals, Alan Magee and Joe Kelly took on Brad Fleming and Lee Hayes, with Brad Fleming and Lee Hayes being the victors and going through to the next round, winning by two games to one.

In the second semi-final, Sean Bell and Terry Roach started well with a 14 dart display, which included a 180 from Terry Roach as they took on Alex McGill and Scott Grady, and Sean Bell and Terry Roach went on to take the second leg to go through to the final.

In the final, Brad Fleming and Lee Hayes took on their teammates Bell and Roach who won by two games to one to take the Mill Brow.

In the first semi-final of the SC RTB Pairs trophy, Scott Grady took on Jack Dunn and, after going one up, he soon made it two with a timely 15 dart display taking him through to the final in two straight legs. In the second semi-final, Joe Kelly was on fire as he started with a 16 darter against Dave Powell and went on to book his place in the final with a 15 dart display – winning in two straight legs.

In the final, Scott Grady took on Joe Kelly, and in a superb contest it went a leg of darts apiece, but there could only be one winner with Joe Kelly just having the edge over his opponent to take the extra leg to win the Halton Stadium 501 Individual­s trophy.
