Pre-season challenge dates announced for team

THE Wild have announced four pre-season challenge games to give new Head Coach Mike Clancy’s new-look squad every opportunit­y to gel ahead of the new NIHL competitiv­e season.

The first two games see a “home and away” challenge against fellow Laidler Division contenders Altrincham Aces with the first game being played away on Sunday,

August 25 at Planet Ice Altrincham (5pm face off) and the return home game taking place the following Sunday, September 1 at Planet Ice Widnes – face off 5.30pm.

The following weekend, the Wild will face higher league opposition in the shape of the Moralee Division Blackburn Hawks side – playing away on Saturday 7th and at home on Sunday, September 8.

At the home game against the Aces on September 1, the Wild will officially retire the number seven shirt to recognise the achievemen­ts of Ollie Barron as both player and coach for the past three seasons and all four of the Wild’s trophies will be on display.

As well as defending their Laidler Division league title this season, the Wild will be also be playing in the NIHL North Cup, playing in a tough group along with Moralee Division sides Solihull Barons, Blackburn Hawks, Sutton Sting and Nottingham Lions.

The four home group games in the Cup as well as the two pre-season challenge games at Planet Ice Widnes are included in the season ticket for the Laidler Division season.
