Kops And Kids sessions make their return to Brookvale Rec

‘KOPS and Kids’ returned to Brookvale Rec Centre from Tuesday, July 30, for five weeks, as a partnership between Runcorn police and Halton Council.

KOPS stands for Keep On Playing Sport, nothing to do with Liverpool FC. Everton In The Community is one of the partners offering coaching after all!

There will be the chance to take part in a range of completely free activities for young people aged seven to 16. Just turn up on the day and register.

Sessions run between 9am to noon and 1pm to 3pm finishing off with a free swim option, each Tuesday and Wednesday up to August 28.

A range of activities including badminton, basketball, football, indoor athletics, table tennis, Highland games, accessible sports, ‘glow in the dark’ sports and a whole host of other activities with support, coaching and visits from Active Halton, Halton Borough Council, Cheshire police, Onward Housing, Everton In The Community and St Helens Rugby League Club.

Cllr Dave Cargill, Halton Borough Council’s executive board member for community safety, said: “Halton Borough Council is pleased to be a partner organisation with Cheshire Constabulary’s Runcorn LPU, for the return of ‘Kops And Kids’ to Runcorn.

“This event gives youngsters the opportunity to engage with the local police in a positive way and we hope to see some positive results in terms of reduced anti-social behaviour and improved community safety.

“We we are happy to be hosts for the event which will engage youngsters throughout the summer holiday period in sporting activity across five weeks.”

Various Halton Borough Council teams including Active Halton, Sports and Community Development are supporting the project.
