Chemical firm’s award for safety management

ALEADING chemical firm based in Runcorn has won an award. Mexichem Fluor tasted success at the Chemical Industry Awards 2019 and won in the Responsible Care For Process Safety Leadership category.
The award win follows the firm’s significant investment in process safety management, undertaking a thorough analy
sis of its protective and preventive systems to develop and unify their approach.
The developments have provided a more streamlined and integrated approach throughout the COMAH regulated site.
The Runcorn-based plant was recognised for its stringent safety processes, highly trained team and above and beyond policies including fatigue management, continued learning support and regular thorough inspections.
This year, the Mexichem site was also credited with an exemplary report from the Health And Safety Executive inspector, due to the plant’s improved asset integrity monitoring and management systems
Mexichem Fluor downstream operations director Tipu Salahuddin said: “We understand the critical importance of continuously improving safety management systems whilst reinforcing strict guidelines and site culture.
“This considered approach ensures site safety and security are always paramount.
