Burglary probe continues

-

NO arrests have yet been made in connection with two burglaries which took place on the same day in Widnes where houses were ransacked.

Detectives are investigating two incidents on Derby Road and nearby Boxgrove Close.

Suspects broke into the houses while no-one was home and conducted untidy searches, a Cheshire police spokesman said.

Jewellery was stolen during the Derby Road raid, while nothing is believed by police to have been taken from the Boxgrove Close incident.

The force has confirmed that no arrests have yet been made in connection with either of the burglaries and enquiries are still ongoing,

Last week, Detective Constable Stuart Clay, of Widnes Local Policing Unit, said: “Burglary is a serious offence in which victims are targeted in their own home, which is the place they should be able to feel most safe.

“We are investigating two burglaries in Widnes which occurred on the same day and may well be linked.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are determined to establish who was responsible for the burglaries and bring them to justice.

“As part of our enquiries we are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Derby Road between 9am and 8pm or the nearby Boxgrove Close between 2.30pm and 10.30pm on the day the burglaries occurred and witnessed anything suspicious to get in touch.

“The same goes for anyone who believes they may have seen, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of, any of the offenders or have h information f regarding their identities.”

Anyone with information or CCTV footage that may help the investigations should call Cheshire police l on 101, quoting IML 534906 (Derby Road) or IML 534990 (Boxgrove Close) or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
