Drug dealer to pay £200k crime cash
ADRUG dealer caught with between £120,000 and £160,000 worth of cocaine in his car when stopped in Widnes has been told to cough up more than £200,000 worth of his ill gotten gains.
Terence Bell, 37, was jailed for six years and eight months in November 2017 after admitting possession with intent to supply the class A drug.
He was initially charged by detectives from Widnes Local Policing Unit following a routine stop check
SUZI Davies of Runcorn said: “This is Chewy and Gizmo my Guinea pigs enjoying the sun.” on Cronton Lane in September 2017.
A Cheshire police spokeswoman said at the time that made a check on a Ford Focus and that Bell eventually stopped his car and fled from the vehicle.
The spokeswoman said officers gave chase and arrested him, while a search of the vehicle revealed an estimated seized value of between £120,000 to £160,000 worth of cocaine.
The force said at the time Bell was charged that a ‘significant amount’ of drugs were found in the back of a car by officers from Cheshire police’s taskforce.
He was sent down for a total of 80 months at Liverpool Crown Court.
Proceeds Of Crime Act (POCA) proceedings last month at the same court were adjourned so further work and financial investigation could take place after the prosecution and defence in the case could not come to an agreement regarding the case and a benefit figure for the defendant.
The court heard on that occasion Bell had a ‘number of properties’ which will have to be ‘looked at’ in terms of rentals and mortgages.
But a further POCA hearing has now taken place at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, October 17, and Bell has been ordered to pay a total of £205,166.32.
