Guides’ centenary celebration
HALTON Lea Library was set to bursting recently as Runcorn Guides took over to celebrate a century of the organisation in the area
In total Halton Libraries hosted 16 Rainbows, 56 Brownies, 20 Guides, two young leaders, 12 volunteers and Halton’s mayor for an afternoon full of activities!
Together with Halton Borough Councll staff the girls went on book hunts around the library, created stories using everyday objects as inspiration, and made wonderfully colourful Aslan masks from The Lion, Witch And the Wardrobe
The Rainbows made good use of these masks hiding amongst the book shelves scaring their leaders and Halton’s mayor, Margaret Horabin.
All girls who were at the library received a library badge for taking part with the event and all Runcorn Guides have received a specially designed 100 Years Of Runcorn Guiding badge.
Five of the Guides also received the Baden-Powell Challenge Award for outstanding work they have completed as Guides this year, all badges and award were presented by the Mayor.

Cllr Margaret Horabin said: “It is lovely to see such an inspirational group of girls. Guiding is still going from strenth to strength in Halton, and long may that continue.”
The girls who received the Baden-Powell Award were Layla Carson, Savannah Bolland, Isabelle Hill, Cerys Droughton, Jessica Orme, Christina PintoEdwards, Charlotte Hallsworth.
