Cricket club hit rivals for six straight games in comfortabl­e victory

WIDNES Cricket Club A were at home to the Mersey Hotel On Friday night in In the Mill Brow SC RTB League

A fantastic start from the Cricket Club saw them win the first six games through Kev Baxter, Ben Hewitt, Mike Parr (18 Darts), Mike Parr and Andy Beddows, Danny Mellor and Ben Hewitt and Rob Morris and K Baxter (17 Darts).

Mark Middleton got one back for the Mersey with Danny Mellor then taking another for the Cricket Club.

The Mersey didn’t give up and managed to take the last game with a win for David Hughes, but it was the Cricket club who took the match.

In Millfield’s home match with Simm’s Cross Institute Glen Owen took the first game for the Stute but Ian Wall (14 Darts) then grabbed one back for the Milly.

The Stute then won the next three with wins for Tony Green, Ray Dutton and Ged McPartland and Andy Abbott and Glen Owen.

The Milly levelled it again with wins for Billy Fox and Alan Sutton, Billy Fox, and Mike Howard.

With everything level Brian Dutton (14 Darts) seized the match by taking the last game for the Stute.

Mill Brow Social Club were at home to Widnes Bowling Club B. Dave Cowan and Alan Moran put the Bowler into a two game lead just to see the Brow snatch the lead with wins from Paul Linger, Dave Powell and Ray Linger, and Chris Bright and Kev Helps.

Alan Moran and Al Pennington, Jeff Thompson and Mike Ruane then won three in a row giving the Bowler the win.

Goldmine’s home clash with the Cricketers Arms was an extremely close game. The Cricketer’s took the lead through John Mulholland, this was then countered with a win for the Goldmine through Ray O’Connor.

Rob Sutton then put the Cricketer’s back in front only to see Barry Noonan and Ray O’Connor level up.

The Cricketer’s then went back into the lead with a win for Tony Ainsworth & John Mulholland, but once again the Goldmine drew level through Colin Grindley and John Stewart.

And so into the final three singles games Peter Mason took the first for the Cricketer’s leaving them needing just one more win, but it wasn’t to be as Sean Bell (14 Darts) and then Phillip Dunn snatched the last two games to give the Goldmine the match.

Halton Stadium were at home to Widnes Cricket Club B. Keith Allen put the Cricket Club into the lead but this was overcome as Mike Callaghan (14 Darts) and then Dave Houghton (15 Darts) put the Stadium ahead.

Keith Allen and Carl Bryan and Jonny Leather and Ian Shaples then won a couple for the Cricket Club only for the Stadium fight back through Dave Haughton and Colin Rigby and Joe Kelly.

With the Stadium in the lead going into the last two games it looked like they had done enough, but the Cricket Club took the last two games through Carl Bryan (14 darts) and Dave Herley to claim victory.

Majors Arms took the first two games at home to Widnes Bowling Club A through Mark France and Daz Attwood but back came the Bowler through Joe Batty, Joe Batty and Alec McGill, and Tommy Robertson and Tex Bowles.

The Majors then took a couple from Ben Hogan and Luke Carey and Luke Carey to put them within one of the win.

Tex Bowles took the penultimat­e game for the Bowler leaving it all to the last, and up stepped Alec McGill to take the game and make it the Bowlers night.

Ball were at home to the Hough Green Social Club. Wins for Andy Macintosh and then Paul Woods gave Hough Green the lead.

Martin Ball then pulled one back for the Ball only to see Andy Macintosh and Paul Woods and then Keith Glover and Duane Lawton double Hough Greens total.

The Ball hit a streak of form as Peter Kneale and Anthony Hall took the match level with one to play.

Hough Green weren’t done though and came through to win the match thanks to a high pressure win from Duane Lawton.

In the 501 league on Friday Goldmine B were at home to Widnes Bowling Club.

An outstandin­g performanc­e from the Bowler saw them take every game in this one sided encounter.

The wins for the Bowler came from Rob Magee (180), Dave Pickles, Joe Batty, Rob Magee and Mark Smith(17 Darts), Alec McGill and Alan Clark, Joe Batty and Dave Gerrard, Alec McGill, Tex Bowles, and last but not least Dave Gerrard.

Millfield’s home clash with Halton Stadium turned out to be a superb match for achievemen­ts.

Alan Magee, Tony Jackson (19 Darts) Jonny Leather and John Bowles and Alan Magee took the first four games for the Stadium.

Ian Wall & Chris Booth then pulled one back for the Milly before the Stadium took the remaining games and the Match through Joe Price and Tony Jackson, Robbie Gorst (180, 17 Darts, 120 Checkout, 18 Darts), John Bowles (180, 180, 16 Darts, 18 Darts) and Joe Kelly (19 Darts, 18 Darts, 142 Checkout) despite a Chris Booth (180).

Hammer & Pincers were at home to

Simm’s Cross Institute A.

An excellent start from the Stute saw them shoot into a six game lead with wins from Eric Peel (18 Darts, 129 Checkout), Ray Dutton, Andy Abbott ,Brian Dutton & Eric Peel, Andy Abbott and Glen Owen (17 Darts) and Jack Pennington and Stu Pennington.

Paul Murty then pulled one back for the Hammer before Tony Green took another for the Stute.

The final game went to Rob Lea for the Hammer.

In Mill Brow Social Club’ home clash with the Ball Anthony Hall (17 Darts) took the lead for the Ball only to see Mike Callahan and then Clive Rule grabbed the lead back for the Brow.

Anthony Hall & Karl Whitfield (15 Darts, 117 Finish) then levelled it back up for the Ball, but the Brow took the last five games unanswered through Neil Platt (17 Darts) and Paul Linger (180), Shane Littler and Brian Spruce, Kieran Stringer (180) despite Karl Whitfield (16 Darts), Sandra Rule, and Neil Platt giving them the triumph.

Simm’s Cross Inst. B were at home to The Goldmine A. The Goldmine started off the way they meant to go on even with a shortage of players.

Karl Windish, Terry Roach (19 Darts) and Luke littler took the first three singles. They then carried on by taking the first two pairs games through Sean Bell and Terry Roach and then Chris Clarke & Karl Windish in the second pair’s game.

Ian Woodward and Luke Lund pulled one back for the Stute before Luke Littler got another for the Goldmine.

Jordan Davies (120 finish) then got a second game for the Stute only to see the last game go to the Goldmine through Chris Clarke.

Just another day at the office for the Goldmine.
