The deadlock was broken after 35 minutes, Craig Cairns was on the end of a ball that went over the top of the Avro defenders, then he cut inside towards the right of goal and slotted the ball in the bottom right corner of the goal.

Town were awarded a corner, which was cleared to Paul McManus who had a shot from distance, but the ball went well wide of the left post.

Town were awarded a free kick in stoppage time for a foul on Cairns. Holt took it but Michael Burke’s header was just wide of the goal.

The second half began slowly and with Kiano Samms being injured, Avro introduced former Town player Leon Wright who was causing problems for the defence.

The score line should have been doubled after the 52nd minute, Forbes controlled the ball and his shot beat Jordan Latham but the Avro defenders managed to scramble the ball clear.

Avro started put pressure on the Town defenders and creating several chances in the process.

Leon Wright had a shot after 63 minutes, but Adam Reid dived to the left of goal and made the save, forcing a corner, which was taken from the left and cleared.

Avro went on the counter attack on the 67th minute, Kyle Jacobs had a

● shot but the ball went across the face of goal and wide past the left post.

Runcorn Town went on the counter attack at the other end, Joe Holt sprinted forward but the shot was comfortably saved by Jordan Latham.

Avro went on the break moments later and were awarded a corner from the right, Adam Reid managed to punch the ball clear, but there was a delay as Owen Dursley received treatment for a nasty injury by physio Peter Gordon.

The pressure finally told as Avro equalised in the 72nd minute when they were awarded a corner, which came in from the right and Louis Lacy headed the ball into the net.

After the goal was scored, Owen Dursley was unable to continue due to the injury sustained earlier and Stephen Wainwright was brought on to replace him.

Town were awarded a free kick in the 76th minute, which was taken by Holt, Cairns recovered the loose ball but his shot was saved by Latham.

Player-manager Paul McManus made a change and brought on Simon Thelwell in place of Dave Forbes.

The substitution had the desired effect as Runcorn Town retook the lead after 81 minutes, Thelwell headed the ball on to Cairns who slotted it into the bottom right corner of the goal.

Avro were awarded a free kick in the 87th minute, which was taken from the right flank, crossed in and Town defenders cleared it for a corner, which was taken from the left and they then cleared their lines.

With time running out, Avro snatched an equaliser within the first minute of injury time, the ball was crossed in and Louis Lacy placed the ball in the bottom right corner of the goal.

Not long after that the referee, Mr Walsh brought the game to a close and both sides share the points, in what has been the third score draw out of the last four league matches.
