With the Match already lost the Bowler, who never gave in came back to take the last two games with wins for Mike Ruane and Dave Pickles.

Widnes Cricket Club B v Widnes Bowling Club A

The Bowler took the lead through Scott Morris, but the Cricket Club quickly equalised through Nev Goff.

Alec McGill then put the Bowler back into the lead, but at this point the Cricket Club hit the fast burner and took four in a row through Keith Allen & Carl Bryan, Trevor Chadwick & Nev Goff, Bernie Teebay & Ian Sharples and Trev Chadwick to give them the match.

The Bowler then stole one back through Alan Clark, but the Cricket Club hadn’t finished and took the last through Ian Sharples to underline their win.

Hough Green SC v Mill Brow Social Club Hough Green took the first with a win for Barry Sefton. Neil Platt and then Dave Powell then won a couple to put the Brow in front but it wasn’t long before Hough Green levelled again with a win for Paul Woods & Lee Buckley (19 Darts).

The Brow then went on a rampage and took the last five games unanswered through Kev Helps 7 Paul Linger (16 Darts), Dave Powell & Ray Linger, Chris Bright, Brian Spruce and Paul Woodward (17 Darts) to take the match.

Majors Arms v Mersey Hotel Rob Cotty took the first game for the Mersey but the Majors replied with four wins for Mark France (18 Darts), Michael Brown, Michael Brown & Ryan Brown and Daz Attwood & Mark France.

The Mersey then managed to pull one back with a win for Danny Cotterill and Sandra Unsworth, but it just wasn’t their night as the Majors finished off the match with wins from Kev Grice, Ryan Brown and Andy O’Grady.

Glen Owen produced the Institute’s only win in the first game of the night.

The Ball then went on to take all of the remaining games with wins for Peter Kneale, John Barber, Anthony Hall & Nathan Sivills, Lol Fonterigo & Peter Kneale, Martin Ball & Karl Whitfield, Martin Ball, Peter Jerram and Barry Highfield to give them the match.

On Monday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued with Round Nine being played.

Rob Magee (109 Checkout) took the first game for the Bowler despite Tony Jackson (16 Darts).

Unfortunat­ely for them that was it as the Stadium took all of the remaining games with wins for Alan Magee, Jonny Leather, Robbie Gorst & Joe Kelly, Tony Jackson & Colin Rigby (19 Darts), John Bowles & Alan Magee, Robbie Gorst (13 Darts, 16 Darts, 180, 180, 180), Joe Kelly, and John Bowles (16 Darts, 19 Darts).

Millfield v

Hammer & Pincers

The Milly made a great start taking the first five games and the match with wins for Chris Taylor, Ian Wall,

Alan Sutton (19 Darts), Alan Sutton & Billy Fox and John Taylor & Ian Wall.

Sean Connor and Rob Lea then pulled one back for the Hammer but the Milly came back again, winning the next two games through Keith Horabin and John Taylor.

A spirited Hammer never gave in though and took the final game with a win from Rob Lea.

Mill Brow SC v

Simm’s Cross Institute A

The Brow went into a three game lead with wins for Kev Helps, Neil Platt and Clive Rule (18 Darts, 17 Darts) despite Brian Dutton (19 Darts).

The Stute then fought back to take the next through Brian Dutton (180) & Glen Owen (19 Darts), but the Brow hit straight back by taking another two games with wins for Mike Callaghan & Clive Rule, and Brian Spruce & Paul Linger (114 Checkout) giving them the match.

The Institute then took another through Tony Green, but the Brow weren’t going to let up and took the final two games with wins for Sandra Rule and Mark Harrison.

Goldmine B

The Stute went into an unassailab­le seven game lead with wins for Paul Beesley, Ian Woodward, Glyn Ryan, Glyn Ryan & Andrew McCaffery, Bernie Teebay & Tony Newall, Callum McCaffery & Luke Lund (180), and Luke Lund.

With the match already lost, the Goldmine then kicked into gear and managed to take the last two games with wins for John Stewart and Gordon Stewart (18 Darts). It was just all too late.
