Developer seeks the go ahead for pharmacy plan
A PHARMACY in Widnes could be bulldozed to make way for an apartment block.
Blueprints have been drawn up concerning the future of Appleton Village Pharmacy.
Plans envisage knocking down the current facility and building an apartment block with 16 two-bedroom flats and one one-bedroom flat in its place.
There would also be car parking, bin storage, cycle lockers and an amenity space at the site.
A design and access statement from Constructive Thinking submitted as part of the plans said planning permission has recently been acquired for one apartment block at the site and this application envisages a second block at the front of the Appleton Village site.
The second block would complement the first and remove the ‘somewhat unsightly’ existing pharmacy.
The statement said: “As can be seen by the visualisations this will complete the residential complex providing much needed, high-quality rental accommodation to the local area.”
The planned block would be three storeys, with 31 car parking spaces and would include two disabled bays.
The statement added: “This project represents a significant
● investment of over £4m into this area of Widnes.
“It will vastly improve both this former industrial site and wider residential area.
“The final scheme will provide much-needed, high quality residential accommodation for the local residents for a diverse mix of occupants.
“The final development will be a wonderful contemporary residential complex that knits into the existing urban fabric.
“It will improve this part of Appleton Village immensely, creating pleasing views to the street scene as well as into and across the site.”
