Ball have a ball on the night to win Social Cup

LAST week saw the quarter finals of the Simms Cross Institute sponsored Wilson Cup. In the match between Majors Arms at home to Halton Stadium, Mark France (18 Darts) took the first game for the Majors but unfortunat­ely that was all they could muster as the Stadium took all of the remaining games with wins for Kenny Murphy, Joe Price, Dave Houghton and Tony Jackson, John Bowles and Joe Price, Kenny Murphy and Ged Price, Dave Houghton, Tony Jackson, and John Bowles to put them through to the semi-final.

Widnes Bowling Club A at home to Widnes Cricket Club A

(at Widnes Bowling Club) Kevin Baxter won the first for the Cricket Club, but after that it was all the Bowler A with wins from Alec McGill, Rob Magee (15 darts), Rob Magee and Danny Magee, Scott Grady and Alec McGill, Alan Clark and Mark Smith, Scott Grady, Danny Magee and Tex Bowles putting them through to the semi-finals.

Mersey Hotel at home to the Cricketer’s Arms (venue Mill Brow Social Club)

The Cricketer’s went into a four game lead with wins for Graham Fenny (19 Darts), John Mulholland, Nikki Sutton, and Tony Ainsworth and Rob Sutton.

Danny Shipley and Lisa Cotty then pulled a game back for the Mersey but unfortunat­ely that was all they could manage and the Cricketer’s took the last four games with wins from Peter Mason and Paul Mason, Tony Ainsworth, Peter Mason, and Brian Dwyer to see them through to the semis.

Goldmine at home to Hough Green Social Club (at Mersey Hotel)

Hough Green took a two game lead through Andy McIntosh and Derek

Turton.

Andrew Holden then pulled a game back for the Goldmine before Andy McIntosh and Sean Connor took another for Hough Green.

Sean Bell and Colin Grindley then took another game for the Goldmine only to see Keith Glover and Ken Dow take a fourth for Hough Green.

With Hough Green needing just one to reach the semis Phil Dunn took the Goldmine’s tally up to three.

Sadly though the Goldmine had nothing left and Hough Green took the last two games to put them into the semi-finals.

Mill Brow Social Club Cup 2019/20 Monday November 25 2019 Final

Simm’s Cross Institute at home to The Ball (at Mill Brow Social Club)

The Ball were on fire at the start of the game and went into an unassailab­le five game lead with wins from Ged Kilburn, Karl Whitfield, Martin Ball, Karl Whitfield & Martin Ball (17 Darts)

● and Lol Fonterigo & Ged Kilburn.

The Institute then fought back hard to take the next three games with wins for Andrew McCaffery and Glyn Ryan, Callum McCaffery and Luke Lund.

The Ball hadn’t finished though and still managed to pick up the last game through Mark Tyrer to give them the Mill Brow Social Club Cup for 2019/20 season.

Widnes Bowling Club 501 League 2019/20

Goldmine B at home to Widnes Bowling Club

The Bowler went into an early three game lead with wins from Rob Magee (19 Darts, 15 Darts, 106 Checkout), Alan Clark and Alex McGill.

The Goldmine fought back to win the first doubles thanks to Phil Dunn and Ray O’Conner (16 Darts) but the Bowler came straight back with a win for Rob Magee and Danny Magee.

The Goldmine then managed to take the last of the doubles with a win for Jimmy Clark and Jimmy Holden, but the Bowler were too strong and took the last three games and the match with wins from Joe Batty (18 Darts), Danny Magee and Tommy Robertson.

Goldmine A at home to the Millfield

The Goldmine flew into a six game lead thanks to wins from Karl Windisch, Leon Littler (18 Darts), Luke Littler, Leon Littler and Luke Littler, Sean Bell and Terry Roach (16 Darts), despite a Chris Booth (180), Chris Clarke and Karl Windisch, Terry Roach (18 Darts, 19 Darts, 100 Checkout) and Chris Clarke.

The Milly didn’t give up the fight though and managed to take the last game thanks to a win from Chris Booth, but it was the Goldmine’s night.

Hammer & Pincers at home to Simm’s Cross Institute A

The Stute took the first six games with wins from Eric Peel, Dave Evans, Ray Dutton (18 Darts, 180), Dave

Evans and Tony Green, Ray Dutton and Brian Dutton, Micky Cullen and Glen Owen and Paul Goulden.

The Hammer never gave up though and Merv Grady pulled one back in the penultimat­e game but it was just too late and the Stute ended the night with another win, this time from Jack Pennington, to take the match.

Halton Stadium at home to Mill Brow Social Club

The Stadium took the first through Alan Magee but Dave Powell (16 Darts, 18 Darts) then levelled for the Brow.

The Stadium then took the next four games with wins for Robbie Gorst (19 Darts, 180), despite Kieran Stringer (18 Darts, 180), John Bowles and Alan Magee (19 Darts), Tony Jackson and Neil Ward, and Robbie Gorst and Joe Kelly.

Paul Linger then pulled a game back for the Brow but that was it and the Stadium took the last two games with wins from Shayne Burgess and Kevin Garcia (180).
