Online funding campaign for junior football coach
A FUNDRAISING effort has been launched to help a former junior football coach from Runcorn and family as he undergoes ongoing intensive cancer treatment.
Greg Dudley, 29, was diagnosed with a brain tumour after developing unexpected symptoms but now wellwishers have rallied to help him and his loved ones financially during the road ahead.
An appeal launched by his brother Craig has already raised more than £7,000 at time of writing for Greg, who remains popular in the town having been a football coach and volunteer at Heath Rangers JFC.
A fundraising entry on the gofundme.com website said surgery took place on September 6 and although Greg came through well, not all went to plan and surgeons only removed half of the tumour.
At a follow-up appointment, a specialist told him the tumour was grade 2 and that he needed to undergo six weeks of radiotherapy, followed by 12 months of chemotherapy.
Sadly, after having his radiotherapy mask fitted on Friday, October 25, so he could begin his treatment, he suffered a seizure and fell, adding to the
● difficulties he faces.
Writing on the gofundme page, Craig Dudley said: “Unfortunately after he arrived back at home Greg had a seizure while outside the house.
“During the seizure he has fallen to the floor and hit his head, resulting in him fracturing the opposite side of his head to where he had the surgery and causing a small bleed on his brain. Hopefully the go fund me will give Greg and his family one less thing to worry about while he goes through this long road of treatment.”
