Care charity wins employer award

LOCAL social care charity, Community Integrated Care, has won the top accolade at the 2019 North West Great British Care Awards, scooping the ‘Care Employer’ title.

It was shortliste­d in a further 8 categories at the event, which took place on Saturday, October 26.

The ‘Care Employer’ award celebrates organisati­ons that demonstrat­e a commitment to care, to both its employees and the people it supports.

Community Integrated Care was commended by the judges for putting people at the centre of what they do, after the launch of an ambitious five-year strategy.

Community Integrated Care recorded a double success on the evening, also winning the ‘Care Innovator Award’ for their input in developing the ground-breaking Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League, a collaborat­ion with rugby league’s Super League and RFL governing bodies to create a world-first inclusive sports programme.

The charity provides care for people with learning disabiliti­es, autism and mental health concerns throughout the North West and employs over 6,000 people nationally.

It was founded in Halton over 31 years ago and is one of the biggest care providers in the region.

The annual awards, which took place at the Midland Hotel in Manchester celebrate excellence in the social care sector and saw the charity shortliste­d for 7 further honours including the Care

Manager, Care Newcomer, Care Team and Care Worker Of The Year categories.

Samantha Brennan, managing director of the North West at Community Integrated Care said: “It’s an absolute honour to collect the Care Employer Award, recognisin­g our commitment to developing our colleagues and delivering exceptiona­l care for people in the North West.

“We continuall­y strive to be an employer of choice in our region and this award recognises the great work we’re doing here.

“To be shortliste­d for nine awards is absolutely fantastic and is a real testament to the incredible work our charity has undertaken over the past 18 months. We really are proud of our people who are quite often the unsung heroes of society.”

The winners of each award are now through to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards, taking place in March 2020, celebratin­g excellence in social care and paying tribute to incredible individual­s.
