Fine innings from the Cricketer’s as Hotel checked out

On Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, Mill Brow SC RTB League continued with Round 10.

Cricketer’s Arms at home to the

Mersey Hotel

AUL Mason got the Cricketer’s off to a winning start but the Mersey came straight back with a win from Sharon Unsworth to level.

Graham Fenny then put the Cricketer’s back into the lead, but once again the Mersey levelled, this time with a win from Mark Middleton and Sharon Unsworth.

At this point the Cricketer’s really upped the pace with three wins coming from John Mulholland & Paul Mason, Brian Dwyer & Graham Fenny and Peter Mason to give them the match.

Rob Cotty managed to get another back for the Mersey, but the Cricketer’s hadn’t finished and took the last with a win from team captain Brian Dwyer.

The Stadium took a two

-game lead through Alan

Magee and Tony Jackson.

Back came the Ball with a win for Anthony Hall and

Nathan Savills.

Pthen games took

John Bowles & Alan Magee (14 Darts) and Robbie Gorst & Ste Barrow putting them within a single game of victory, but it wasn’t to be as the Ball then pulled out all the stops to take the last four games in a row with wins coming from Martin Ball & Karl Whitfield (17 Darts), Martin Ball, Karl Whitfield and Nathan Savills (18 Darts) to give them a fantastic win.

Hough Green Social Club at home to the Majors Arms

The Majors went into a four-game lead with wins coming from Mark France, Daz Attwood, Luke Carey and Daz Attwood & Mark France.

Hough Green then pulled a couple of doubles games back with wins from Baz Sefton & Dereck Turton and Duane Lawton & Sean Connor.

James Tyghe then took another for the Majors, giving them the match with two still to play.

Keith Glover (17 Darts) took the penultimat­e for Hough Green but the final game went to the Majors thanks to Andy O’Grady. Millfield at home to Widnes Bowling Club A The Milly started off with a couple of wins from Danny

Wood and Jamie Donegan before Tommy Robertson got one back for the Bowler.

Ian Wall & Billy Fox and Jon Taylor & Chris Taylor then took the first two doubles for the Milly to leave them needing a game to win.

Tex Bowles & Alan Clark managed to take the third doubles for the Bowler, but the Milly were too strong and took all three remaining games with wins coming from Ian Wall, Jon Taylor and Chris Taylor.

Simm’s Cross Institute at home to Widnes Cricket Club A

Ray Dutton and Glen Owen put the Stute into a two-game lead which was reduced to one when Mike Parr took the next for the Cricket Club.

The first doubles then went to the Stute thanks to Brian Dutton & Dave Evans (18 Darts) but Kevin Baxter & Ben Hewitt took the next for the Cricket Club.

The Stute then came straight back to take the next two games with wins for Andy Abbott & Glen Owen and Brian Dutton (11 Darts) which gave them the match.

The Cricket Club weren’t done though and managed to take the last two games with wins from Billy Cain and Ernie Griffiths; it was just too late. Widnes Cricket Club B at home to Mill Brow Social Club

The Cricket Club went into a twogame lead through Nev Goff (14 Darts) and Andy Davies but it wasn’t long before the Brow had levelled thanks to wins from Paul Linger (15 Darts) and Paul Woodward & Chris Bright.

The Cricket Club then went back into the lead with a win from Keith Allen & Jonny Leather, but once again the Brow fought straight back with a win from Paul Linger & Neil Platt (13 Darts).

Keith Allen then took the lead once again for the Cricket Club but yet again the Brow bounced right back thanks to a win from Dave Powell. So with the game balanced on a knife edge going into the last game Trevor Chadwick (16 Darts) came through for the Cricket Club to give them victory in what was an extremely close match.

Widnes Bowling Club B at home to the Goldmine The Goldmine started off with a win for Jim Holden but the Bowler soon levelled through Jeff Thompson. Again the Goldmine took the lead this time through Ray O’Connor, and shortly after they increased the lead with a further win from Phil Dunn & John Stewart. Unfortunat­ely for the Goldmine, the Bowler then went into a purple patch and took all of the remaining games and the match with wins from Dave Jackson & Dave Pickles, Andy Ruane & Mike Ruane, Dave Pickles (11 Darts), Mike Ruane and Al Moran.

On Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued with Round 11 being played.

Mill Brow Social Club at home to

The Ball

The Brow went into a two-game lead with wins from Mike Callaghan and Shane Littler (180).

The Ball then hit back taking the next three games through Anthony Hall (180, 14 Darts), Martin Ball & Anthony Hall and Karl Whitfield & Ged Kilburn. Mark Harrison & Paul Linger and then Brian Spruce (180) took a couple more for the Brow, but Karl Whitfield then equalised for the Ball to leave the game on a cliff edge with one to play.

It was Dave Powell who did the business for the Brow taking the game and the match.

Millfield at home to Halton Stadium

In game which was full of achievemen­ts the Stadium went into a fivegame lead through Tony Jackson (18 Darts), despite a Billy Fox (126 Checkout), Joe Kelly (19 Darts), despite Alan Sutton (13 Darts, 180, 180), Robbie Gorst (12 Darts, 180), Robbie Gorst & Kev Garcia (14 Darts) and John Bowles (180) & Alan Magee (15 Darts, 17 Darts).

The Milly then managed to pull one back through Ian Wall & Billy Fox (126 Checkout), but the Stadium took the next through John Bowles (19 Darts).

Mike Howard (17 Darts) won another for the Milly despite a Jonny Leather 180, but the Stadium wrapped up the win by taking the last game through Kev Garcia (17 Darts, 19 Darts) to take the match.

Stute B took the first game with a win for Glynn Ryan, but Stute A then took the next six on the bounce with wins coming from Glen Owen, Andy Abbott, Andy Abbot & Brian Dutton, Dave Evans & Tony Green, Eric Peel & Glen Owen and Brian Dutton (180).

Callum McCaffery then took another for the Stute B, but the A team were not finished and grabbed the last game with a win from Micky Cullen to increase the size of their victory. Widnes Bowling Club at home to

the Hammer & Pincers

The Bowler opened up a three-game lead thanks to wins from Alec McGill, Danny Magee (18 Darts, 112 Checkout) and Rob Magee.

The Hammer then took the first doubles through Paul Murty & Sean Connor, but it was the Bowlers night and they took all of the remaining games through Joe Batty & Alec McGill, Danny Magee & Rob Magee, Joe Batty, Scott Morris, and Dave Gerrard to take the match.
