Choir’s festive date

-

FESTIVE tunes galore will be serenading the winter air in Widnes as four choirs team up for their Grand Christmas Concert.

Widnes-based H’arts And Voices will be joining choirs from Liverpool’s Royal Court choir, Liverpool Royal Hospital and St John Fisher Primary School conducted by Felicity Cunliffe to lay on the seasonal spectacular at The Foundry on Lugsdale Road today, Thursday, December 19.

Joining them on stage will be singers Javi Lara and Grace Galloway, for the ‘lively pop concert’ show directed by composer and choir master Jay McWinen.

The move to The Foundry this year from The Palmhouse in Liverpool also means the choirs have a bigger venue to enjoy and fill with their harmonies.

Explaining the appeal of singing, Clare Isherwood, of H’Arts And Voices, said: “I was inspired to join a choir by my younger brother James as I was thinking of going for some vocal coaching lessons.

“He nudged me certainly in the right direction suggesting that a choir would give me an option of hiding behind the others until I was able to gain a bit of confidence to find my voice.

“I hadn’t even given it a thought to be honest and choirs didn’t seem to be on my radar.

“It’s been one of the best decisions I have ever made though and I even have my other half Cliff on board now too.

“Being in a choir offers the ability to learn a new skill, especially if you are new to separate harmonies.

“It’s a benefit to mental health and general well being. Singing also grounds you, produces feel good hormones and builds confidence.

“Performing in the concerts is a little nerve wracking for me, but it’a real buzz and a joy to be part of something great.

“We are always doing great things too, with recently raising the fantastic sum of £1,200 for Widnes Foodbank with an early Christmas taster concert at Jaguar Sports And Social Club.”

Tickets are £7.50 each and available from www. hartsandvoices.com
