Toy appeal to benefit disadvanta­ged

DISADVANTA­GED children across Halton will get an extra gift from Santa this year, thanks to staff and customers at merseyflow.

Over £300 and hundreds of brand-new toys will be distribute­d to youngers after being collected by customers and staff at merseyflow’s walk-in centre in Runcorn for the popular Halton Christmas Toy Appeal.

The aim of the appeal, run by Widnes-based mum of four Nicky Woodward, is to make sure less fortunate children from across Halton have something to enjoy this Christmas.

Since the appeal first launched five years ago, over 300 local babies and children up to 18 have benefitted from the toy appeal.

The merseyflow team is celebratin­g its best year yet for toys collected, with 2019 seeing over £300 raised including a staff raffle, as well as four large boxes of brandnew toys donated to children in the area.

The money will be used by the Halton Christmas Toy Appeal to buy additional which will be distribute­d to children in some of Halton’s most deprived areas.

Nicky Woodward, coordinato­r of Halton Christmas Toy Appeal, said: “I’d like to thank everyone at merseyflow and all the customers who helped us with the appeal – a fantastic amount of money and the best year yet for toys donated! It will all go towards

● making sure kids right here in Halton get something to celebrate this Christmas.”

Helen Williams, marketing manager at merseyflow, said: “The entire merseyflow team and lots of our customers have really got behind this appeal once again this year.

“It’s wonderful to know that it’s been the best year yet for toys collected and we were able to help Nicky with the amazing work she is doing with the Halton Christmas Toy Appeal.”
