Police chiefs to pay borough visit
THE county’s two most senior crimefighters are heading to Runcorn to give the public chance to speak to them directly.
David Keane, Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner, and Chief Constable Darren Martland, will be in the town at a date to be fixed in February and a venue to be confirmed.
Join The Conversation events are also taking place in Chester, Warrington and Crewe this month, having already visited Widnes, Ellesmere Port, Northwich and Macclesfield towards the end of 2019.
A spokeswoman for Mr Keane said the sessions are part of the commissioner and chief constable’s commitment to bring back real neighbourhood policing to the county and giving the public a chance to raise what issues matter to them most.
Commissioner Keane said: “It was fantastic to see so many residents engage in our events in Ellesmere Port, Northwich, Widnes and Macclesfield over the past few months and now it’s Chester, Warrington, Crewe and Runcorn’s chance to have their say.
“It’s vitally important that the police have a good relationship with the public they serve and are aware of your priorities. These events are providing the opportunity to hear first-hand the issues that matter most to our communities.
“The events have already demonstrated the high levels of pride in our communities and residents’ appetite and passion for keeping their local area safe.”
CC Martland said:
“The community is key in helping us identify the local priorities and allows us to ensure that they are resourced appropriately to make our communities even safer. This is your chance to talk to us directly about the priority issues for your community and I hope to see lots of people engaging in the events and shaping our future priorities together.”
The date and venue for the Runcorn event will be publicised at www.cheshire-pcc.gov. uk once confirmed.
