Foster carers’ contribution celebrated at festive event
FOSTER carers and their special contribution has been celebrated at a winter wonderland themed event hosted by the mayor of Halton.
Long serving and new foster carers came together at the event to receive special recognition and years of service awards.
Foster carers were thanked by the mayor of Halton and social workers for all their hard work and dedication to vulnerable children in Halton.
Halton foster carers make a huge difference to the lives of local babies, children and young people in need of a safe, secure place to grow up.

And the council wants to hear from people who want to join the fostering community.
Mayor of Halton Councillor Margaret Horabin said: “I’m thrilled to spend the day with Halton’s foster carers, to take the time to say thank you for their constant dedication to the children they open their doors to and care for every day.
“When I look around the room I see such positive, genuine people with the interests of local children at their core.”
Liz Davenport, divisional manager for children in care and care leavers, said: “Everyone here today will agree that becoming a foster carer for your local authority is truly rewarding.
“We want to make it convenient for people to come forward and help local children.
“Our aim is to work quickly and flexibly with people on their fostering journey.
“Our foster carers are doing such wonderful, continuous work looking after children and that is definitely something to celebrate.”
SG Stores, a convenience store based in Grangeway, Runcorn, generously packaged and donated luxury goods for festive hampers that foster carers took away from the event.
Foster carers were delighted to receive an early gift and to share them with everyone back at home.

People are invited to get involved with the latest fostering recruitment campaign‘Could you open your door?’ aiming to inspire local people to open their doors and become a foster carers for local children.
