Atomic Kitten re-united for Mersey Gateway singalong

-

JOE Lycett and Atomic Kitten delighted motorists to a surprise live performance as they crossed the Mersey Gateway Bridge on a party bus between Widnes and Runcorn.

The stand-up comedian was joined by a host of Merseyside celebs and the Liverpool Show Choir to perform a special version of the hit song Whole Again with Atomic Kitten.

Changing the lyrics, the group sung ‘Toll Again’ in a stunt relating to the Mersey Gateway Bridge tolls .

Joe and Atomic Kitten were joined by Big Brother’s Craig Philips and Kim Woodburn to film the song as part of Joe’s Channel 4 programme, Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back.

Joe said: “One of the stories we’re doing is about the Mersey Gate toll bridge.

“Merseyflow operate it and they’ve issued quite a lot of fines in the last few months, so I’ve decided to bring awareness to this.

“What we’ve done is we’ve got a bus and we populated it with a choir, Kim Woodburn, Craig from Big Brother series one and Atomic Kitten, who sang a version of Whole Again, called Toll Again.

“And we sang it over the bridge and did a performance.

“That will be on television at some point in the future.

“That actually happened! That actually happened in Widnes today.”

As the team drove over the bridge many drivers were tooting and waving in support.

Joe said the TV show will see him travelling all over the country, but said he ‘loved’ visiting.

He said: “I’ve got a lot of love for Scousers.”

Speaking afterwards, Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon said they both felt ‘windswept’.

Natasha added: “We didn’t know exactly what the had in mind, we just knew he was going to change the words of Whole Again.

“When we got sent it we were just laughing. I don’t know many people in the Merseyside area that haven’t had a fine on the bridge.”

Liz said: “As it stands at this very moment, I have a fine that still needs to be paid on the bridge!”

After the bus drove along the bridge there was large crowds waiting for selfies with the performers.

It is expected the episode of Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back will air in March.
