Cricketers’ defeat at hands of Stadium

ON FRIDAY, February 14 in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued with Round Seventeen being played.

Widnes Cricket Club A at home to Mill Brow Social Club

Kevin Baxter (14 Darts) put the Cricket Club into the lead only to see the Brow take the next four, with wins from Chris Bright, Eric Peel, Ray Linger & Dave Powell, and Paul Woodward & Chris Bright. The Cricket club weren’t finished though and fought back to level it with wins from Andy Atkin & Billy Cain, Ben Hewitt, and Danny Mellor. And so into the decider and it was Paul Linger who took it to give the win to the Brow.

The Ball at home to the Majors Arms

The Ball took the lead through Barry Highfield, but this was soon wiped out by a win from Luke Carey for the Majors.

The Ball then took another two games with further wins from Nathan Savills and then Nathan Savills & Ste Whitfield.

The Majors then came back again with wins from Rob Gatcliffe & Lee Woolam and then Luke Carey & Daz Attwood.

Into the singles and Anthony Hall (18 Darts) grabbed one for the Ball, but yet again the Majors got one back through Rob Gatcliffe to draw level. Going into the decider and it was Ste Whitfield who did the business to take the match for the Ball.

Millfield at home to Widnes

Cricket Club B.

Ian wall fired the Milly into the lead, but the Cricket club came straight back with a couple of wins from Nev Goff and Jonny Leather.

The Milly levelled with a win from Ian Wall & Alan Sutton only to see the Cricket club retake the lead thanks to Trev Chadwick & Nev Goff.

The Milly then went and took the next two thanks to Mike Howard & Jamie Donegan and then Chris Taylor to put them back into the lead. It wasn’t over yet though and Ian Sharples (18 Darts) levelled the match with one to go. Into the decider and it was Mike Howard who brought it home for the Milly to give them the match.

Simm’s Cross Institute at home to Widnes Bowling Club B

Mick Cullen (14 Darts) put the Stute into the lead with Dave Pickles (10 Darts) soon levelling for the Bowler.

Brian Dutton and then Andy

Abbott & Glenn Owen then got the next two for the Stute only to see the Bowler get one back thanks to Al Moran & Dave Cowan.

The Stute then hit a patch of form and took wins from Ray Dutton & Tony Green, Andy Abbott, and finally from Barry Lightfoot to give the Stute the match. With one still to play it was the Bowler who took it with a win from Al Moran to give them a small consolatio­n.

Goldmine at home to Hough Green Social

Club Sean Conner put Hough Green into the lead, but this was soon cancelled out by Alan Jones for the Goldmine.

Barry Sefton then regained the lead for Hough Green, but once again the Goldmine drew level through Colin Grindley & John Stewart.

Not surprising­ly, Hough Green went into the lead again through Duane Lawton & Sean Conner, and not surprising­ly the Goldmine levelled once again through Barry Noonan & Alan Jones. But the pattern had run its course as Hough Green took control of the match with wins from Russ Hardman (14 Darts), Duane Lawton and Ken Dow to give them victory.

Widnes Bowling Club A at home to the Mersey Hotel

The Bowler took the lead with a win from Dave Gerrard. David Hughes then pulled one back for the Mersey, but that was all they managed as the Bowler took all of the remaining games with wins from Alan Clark, Tex Bowles & Joe Batty, Scott Grady & Tommy Robertson, Mark Smith & Alex McGill, Joe Batty, Tex Bowles, and Scott Grady to give them the match.

Halton Stadium at home to the Cricketers Arms

The Stadium went into a three game lead thanks to Al Magee (18), Dave Houghton, and Mike Callaghan.

Tony Langford & Paul Mason then got one back for the Cricketers, but that was their lot as the Stadium took all of the remaining games and the match with wins from Steve Barrow & Tony Jackson, Joe Price & Colin Rigby, Steve Barrow, Colin Rigby, and Joe Price.
