Ban for lack of VAT returns
A REPAIR company director from Runcorn has been banned after failing to supply VAT returns for three years.
Andrew Marc Nuttall, 41, of Weaver Road, was disqualified for two years and six months after he did not submit returns to HM Revenue And Customs (HMRC) from May 7, 2016, for his firm Gasmarc Limited.
A notice issued by The Insolvency Service said he failed to file VAT returns for 13 financial quarters – equivalent to three years and three months.
HMRC has now issued a claim for £51,886 from the company via its liquidation proceedings.
The Insolvency Service notice said £28,374 of the claim related to VAT assessments and £4,085 to interest penalties and surcharges.
According to the Government’s official business register Companies House, Gasmarc Limited was registered to Frodsham
Business Centre until winding-up proceedings began last summer, when it switched to being register to the care of its liquidator Opus Restructuring in Liverpool. The company’s work was repairing household appliances and home and garden equipment. Andrew Marc Nuttall was listed as its managing director.
The company was incorporated in March 2015, and was first issued a compulsory strike-off notice in March 2019, which was suspended later that month.
A winding-up resolution was passed by Opus Restructuring bosses in June last year, and Opus Restructuring was appointed as liquidator on July 25. The firm has not filed any accounts since December 2017 when it filed the 2016-17 accounts.
Its accounts for 2018 are overdue and were due to be filed by December 31, 2018.
