Bowler enjoy a Majors success in the week’s league action

Peter Mason leaving it all hanging on the last game. It was Cricketer’s captain Brian Dwyer who held his nerve and took the game and the match.

● Widnes Bowling Club B at home to Mill Brow Social Club

Eric Peel (12 Darts) put the Brow into the lead only to see Jeff Thompson draw level for the Bowler.

The Brow then took another two games thanks to Chris Bright and Paul Woodward & Chris Bright. The Bowler then pulled another back thanks to Dave Pickles & Dave Cowan, but the Brow took another two games from Dave Powell & Ray Linger and then Dave Powell (11 Darts) to take the match.

The Bowler weren’t about to give up though and took the last two thanks to Mark O’Conner and Al Moran to make it a very close finish.

● Hough Green Social Club at home to the Ball

Andy Macintosh put Hough Green into the lead, but the Ball then took the next four through Nathan Savills, Martin Ball, Nathan Savills & Martin Ball, and Anthony Hall & James Holden.

Lee Buckley & Russ Hardman got one back for Hough Green but this was countered with a win for the Ball by Ste Whitfield.

The teams then had a win each from the last two games, first for Hough Green from Duane Lawton, and then for the Ball from Lol Fonterigo concluding their win.

● Widnes Cricket Club at home to Halton Stadium

The Stadium went into a four game lead thanks to wins from Tony Jackson (19 Darts), Joe Kelly, Mick Callaghan, and John Bowles & Alan Magee (16 Darts).

The Cricket Club came back with a win from Trevor Chadwick and Nev

Goff, but the Stadium took the next with a win from Joe Price & Dave Houghton to take the match.

There were still three games to play though and the Cricket Club took the first two thanks to Trevor Chadwick and Jonny Leather. The last game went to the Stadium’s Kenny Murphy to seal their win.

● Simms Cross Institute at home to the Millfield

The Millfield took a two game lead through Ian Wall (16 Darts) and then Adam Mellor. The Stute then equalised through Dave Evans and then Andy Abbott & Glyn Owen before the Millfield took over and won all of the remaining games and the match with wins from Danny Wood & Kev Skit, Mike Howard & Billy Fox, Chris Taylor (16 Darts), Jon Taylor and Chris Booth

● Mersey Hotel at home to Widnes Cricket Club A

The Mersey went into the lead after an Alex Jones win, but that was their lot as the Cricket Club took control by taking all of the remaining games and the match thanks to wins for Ben Hewitt, Dan Mellor, Daz Pilling & Ernie Griffiths (13 Darts), Andy Atkin & Billy Cain, Dean Morris & Ben Hewitt, Andy Beddows, Rob Morris (18 Darts), and Daz Pilling.

On Monday, March 9, in the Widnes & District Darts League, the, Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued with Round Twenty being played.

● Widnes Bowling Club at home to Goldmine B

John Stewart took the first for the Goldmine and Tex Bowles then equalised for the Bowler before Pete Mullally and then John Stewart & Ray O’Conner reinstated the Goldmine B’s lead.

The Bowler Then took the next four games through Andy Beddows & Alex McGill, Alan Clark & Tex Bowles, Alan Clark, and Scott Byrne to give them the match, but the Goldmine weren’t finished and took the last through Andy Holden.

● Halton Stadium at home to the Millfield

Ian Wall (19 Darts, 17 Darts) gave the Millfield the lead, but the Stadium then took the next seven games in a row through Tony Jackson (180), Joe Kelly (18 Darts, 180), John Bowles & Alan Magee (19 Darts), John Leather & Tony Jackson, Robbie Gorst & Kevin Garcia (16 Darts), Robbie Gorst, and Kevin Garcia (18 Darts, 180), despite a Mike Howard (18 Darts).

It wasn’t all gloom for the Millfield though and Kev Skitt took the last to give them a second game.

● The Ball at home to Mill Brow Social Club

Ant Hall (152 checkout, 180) took the first for the Ball but the Brow then took the next five with wins from Mike Callaghan (18 Darts, 180, 180), Clive Rule (16 Darts), Kev Helps & Paul Linger, Kieran Stringer & Dave Powell; despite an Ant Hall and Martin Ball (17 Darts), and Mike Callaghan & Clive Rule.

Martin Ball then grabbed one back for the Ball, but the Brow continued where they had left off by taking the last two and the match with wins from Kieran Stringer and Brian Spruce.

● Simm’s Cross Institute at home to Hammer & Pincers

The Stute were in unbeatable form as they won all nine games with wins from Mick Cullen, Glen Owen, Paul Goulden, Andy Abbott & Glen Owen, Ray Dutton & Eric Peel, Dave Evans & Stu Pennington, Tony Green (19 Darts), Ray Dutton, and Eric Peel (19 Darts, 180) to take the match.

● Goldmine A at home to Simm’s Cross Institute B

The Goldmine went into a seven game lead as Karl Windisch (15 Darts, 180); despite a James Jeffers (18 Darts), Leon Littler (19 Darts), Luke Littler (18 Darts, 103 Checkout), Sean Bell & Dave Evans (19 Darts), Karl Windisch & Anton Conroy, Chris Clarke & Luke Littler (180), (15 Darts), and Chris Clarke (19 Darts). Andrew McCaffery managed to pull one back for the Stute, but the Goldmine took the last through Dave Evans (14 Darts, 14 Darts, 180) to take the match.
