Hospitals trust issues appeal for volunteers

HALTON and Warrington hospitals have issued a call for members of the public to sign up as nurses and other staff to join the effort to tackle the coronaviru­s pandemic.

Nurses, healthcare assistants, porters and domestics are all being sought.

A Warrington And Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is offering qualified and unqualifie­d roles with training and support provided, ‘flexible’ hours and fast track recruitmen­t.

She said recruits will be joining a ‘warm, supportive family of 4,000 dedicated profession­als’.

The trust said it is also keen to support residents who find themselves disadvanta­ged, displaced or furloughed due to the ongoing coronaviru­s pandemic.

The ‘call to arms’ is being directed towards: Nurses:

That are already employed in the public or private sector and would like additional, temporary or fixed hours

On the Nursing And Midwifery Council (NMC) register in the last three years but are no longer working clinically.

Who have retired and would like to help the Covid-19 effort, for which the NMC has set up a fast-track no-fee temporary registrati­on service.

Healthcare assistants: Already in employment, whether public or private, and want to chip in with the Covid-19 effort.

Or individual­s with a good secondary education, experience working as part of a team and good organisati­onal and communicat­ion skills, and can undergo full training.

Porters and domestics: Residents who are physically fit and have good secondary education, and who will receive full training.

A fast track recruitmen­t service has been set up.
