WE ARE IN TURBULENT TIMES
MUCH has been written about the handling of the coronavirus situation and I am sure that most people, including myself, are pleased that we appear to be on the right side of something that we have never had to experience and hopefully will never have to go through again.
The lockdown situation has made most of us experience thoughts that we have never had before including taking for granted certain activities and pursuits that we have had taken away from us.
I read and watch with interest the criticism of the governing bodies, and as to whether or not they should have locked down earlier to save thousands of lives.
Surely a purely speculative figure, with no evidence to support, and what goes through my mind is that not only am I somebody who for the first time ever is not in control of his or his own family’s destiny, but who thinks that the time for analysis, and what did we do right or wrong, should happen after this dreadful situation has been corrected.
I’m sure that the PM and his government did not reckon on this situation when they accepted office. Similarly, the riots that are happening throughout the nation, surely, the most fair minded individuals must know that racism should be a thing of the past, and completely eliminated.
However, you have to question the timing of these demonstrations, and of the blatant disregard of social distancing, and whether these things should be sorted out at a later date, after the focus has been switched from a situation which requires immediate attention.
One bright light has come out of this - Mr Rashford’s campaign to correct something which clearly should not be happening in these modern times.
