Council to help people back into employment

-

HALTON Borough Council’s Ways To Work team marked national Employability Day on Friday, June 26 by offering telephone advice sessions for unemployed Halton residents looking for work.

Employability Day was an opportunity for employment support organisations and employers to celebrate their hard work supporting people to enter or progress in employment.

The team at Halton People into Jobs (HPIJ) who deliver the Ways To Work programme, have continued to provide vital employment support for local residents during the Covid19 pandemic.

This involves signposting to help improve key skills, job search techniques including CV advice, help with applications and interviews, job matching to immediate employment opportunities and funding to start work.

Advisors have also continued to provide support to those individuals who are in work to help them keep their jobs, where possible, during this difficult period.

Cllr Eddie Jones, portfolio holder for economic development, commended the work of Halton People Into Jobs: “Halton Borough Council continues to be committed to providing employment advice and guidance for residents across our borough.

“It is reassuring to know that the officers delivering these services are highly skilled and dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for the clients they assist.

“Employability Day offers a great opportunity for the team to reflect on and celebrate the hard work and consistent effort they put into supporting local people towards employment, all year round.

“That Employability Day focus also allows them to share some of those successes at local, regional and national level.

“This is clearly an important and appreciated Halton Borough Council Service provided by an outstanding HPIJ staff team.”

The Ways To Work team celebrated Employability Day by reflecting back on some of the positive experiences during lockdown, and advisors will be available during the afternoon to take calls.
