Vandals smash up cars in weekend rampage
VANDALS ran rampage around Runcorn the weekend smashing car windows and slashing tyres.
Incidents were reported in different parts of the town, including in Castlefields, on Sea Lane and near Churchill Mansions in the town centre.
Social media rumours suggested at least four cars had been attacked.
It is not known whether the incidents are linked, and one driver told the Weekly News they believed their car might have been specifically targeted.
Among those affected by the weekend’s carnage was Sam Oultram, 22, who found a Budweiser bottle had been hurled through the window of his Mini.
Pictures provided by Mr Oultram showed a large amount of glass strewn about and a makeshift cover over the gap where the window was.
The jagged broken neck of a dark brown beer bottle was also discovered nearby.
Mr Oultram said he uses the car mainly to pick up his disabled brothers to make sure they can attend family gatherings and see their grandparents.
He said the incident probably happened at around midnight on Sunday night.
Christine Davis, 43, of Castlefields, found her tyres slashed and said the mechanic who replaced them suspected a craft knife had been used,
