- BY OLIVER CLAY oliver.clay@trinitymirror.com @OliverClayRWWN

ARUNCORN man found dead at home took his own life, an inquest has found.

Jesus Raul Fernandez, 30, of Castle View House, East Lane, was discovered on Monday, January 13 by his husband Daniel Fernandez following calls and texts from the deceased’s employer to say he had not attended work and was not answering his phone.

Peter Sigee, assistant coroner for Cheshire, read a statement from Daniel at Warrington Coroner’s Court last Wednesday, in which Daniel said he let himself in with a spare key and found Jesus lying dead on his bed.

Mr Sigee said Daniel last saw Jesus on January 11, when they had gone for dinner at a friend’s house and Jesus had been his usual ‘happy and jokey self: playing games, laughing and having a good time, but was acting in a ‘slightly weird way’ after dinner

Daniel said Jesus was ‘very rarely ill’ and had never seen a doctor in the nine years they had been together other than the common cold.

Jesus had been ‘the rock’ in the relationship and had no known history of self-harm.

Despite being an ‘extremely happy person’, Jesus had been ‘upset by the passing of his father the previous year’.

Dr Catherine Manson, pathologist, found cause of death to be asphyxia, and no injuries or significant naturally-occurring illness.

Toxicology tests by Donna Cameron determined Jesus had taken a therapeutic amount of the off-the-shelf medicine ibuprofen at some time prior to death.

A police constable spoke to Daniel Fernandez who said he had rung the emergency services and started CPR as advised by the call handler.

Detective Sergeant John Rhodes attended, and the police found no evidence of foul play or suspicious circumstances.

His assessment of the scene indicated Jesus had taken his own life with a ‘high degree of planning’.

Mr Sigee returned a conclusion that Jesus Raul Fernandez took his own life.

He recorded the deceased’s job as ‘assistant vice president’ and his marital status as husband to ‘recruitment resourcer’.

Jesus was born in Malaga, Spain, in 1989.

The coroner expressed his condolences’s to Jesus’s family and friends.

The hearing was a readonly inquest, with no witnesses present.
