Housing trust considers social impact outcomes
HALTON Housing has said its work has helped tenants obtain £2m in benefits and cash savings as the homes group published its latest social impact report.
The housing association said other highlights in 201920 included:
Slashing NHS costs by £62,778 by adapting homes.
Awarding more than £12,000 to neighbourhood projects via the Helping Hands initiative.
Creating more than £1.3m of ‘social impact’.
A Halton Housing spokesman said it had been a ‘fantastic year’ for improving customers’ lives.
He said that by collaborating with contractors, charities and social enterprises, the organisation plays an active role in the borough and is part of its ‘social fabric’.
The spokesman said staff have been going ‘above and beyond’ to support tenants during the coronavirus pandemic.
Social impact schemes at Halton Housing in 2019-20 have included: dealing with 882 instances of anti-social behaviour, 12 joint police raids, supporting 1,164 tenants with welfare cases with a cash benefit of over £2.3m, 12 graffiti removals and handling 330 reports of fly-tipping.
The homes group has also invested in 43 kitchens, 188 hearing renewals, 69 bathrooms, 127 roofs, 205 rewires, five rooflines, 290 boilers, and 973 front and rear doors.
Sharon Morris, tenancy services manager, said: “We continue to reach new heights with our social impact figures year on year. We strive to continually improve our services, local facilities and support many local organisations and groups. It’s fantastic to see we not only improve the lives of our customers, but also residents of the borough.”
