City region consultation

-

HALTON residents have been invited to have their say on Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram’s economic recovery plan for the Liverpool City Region (LCR).

The LCR Combined Authority is to submit its proposals to central government.

A spokesman for the alliance of Halton and the five Merseyside councils said the plan builds on the LCR’s Local Industrial Strategy, which he said attracted participation from more than 7,000 residents to its #LCRListens engagement initiative seeking to find out their desires for improvement in key areas such as transport, jobs and skills, housing and the environment.

Another #LCRListens survey has been launched for the economic recovery plan.

Its six themes are ‘build back better’, ‘business ecosystems’, ‘people’, ‘place’, ‘infrastructure’ and ‘green recovery’.

He said: “This pandemic has had a massive impact on our region, both in terms of its effects on public health and our local economy.

“It does, however, present us with a chance to hit reset and reevaluate how we want our economy to look.

“I have been working with local business, trade union and third sector leaders to draw together a plan for how we can Build Back Better.

“For me, that means building an economy that is fairer, greener and more inclusive.

“But we cannot do that without our region’s most valuable asset: its people.

“Please take a few minutes to give us your ideas for our recovery. Despite the pandemic, I am optimistic and ambitious for our future. Before this crisis, we were making some really strong progress. With your help we can ensure that we are able to not only rebuild but recover and flourish.”
