Library’s gig project in line for big award

APROJECT which brought a musician in to play a gig in Widnes Library in February, could be in line for a national award.

The Get It Loud In Libraries gig, which featured Liz Lawrence, has been shortliste­d for a Fantastic For Families award .

Get It Loud In Libraries is delighted to announce it hs been shortliste­d in Fantastic For Families Awards for those who have made an outstandin­g contributi­on to familyfrie­ndly arts and culture.

last month Family Arts Campaign announced the shortlist of arts events, organisati­ons and destinatio­ns that have delighted families, in their Fantastic for Families Awards 2020.

At a time when Covid19 has imposed significan­t limitation­s on the arts and cultural sector, the Fantastic For Families Awards celebrate the wealth of outstandin­g creative events and spaces available to families across the UK.

These organisati­ons are recognised for the outstandin­g experience­s they provided for families.

Get It Loud In Libraries’ all ages live music event featuring indie pop singersong­writer, Liz Lawrence at Widnes Library is one of 13 shortliste­d events in the ‘Best Family Event’ category.;

Halton Borough Council’s executive board member for libraries, Cllr Phil Harris, said “This award recognises the very best family events of the past year with genuine appeal and suitabilit­y for different age groups attending or participat­ing together.

“It is a credit to the staff at Halton Libraries they have been shortliste­d.”

Get It Loud In Libraries’ creative director, Stewart Parsons said that Get It Loud In Libraries was delighted to be shortliste­d for the Fantastic For Families ‘Best Family Event’ Award for the Liz Lawrence matinee show in Widnes Library.

He said: “It was a great partnershi­p effort, funded by Arts Council England, Youth Music and Paul Hamlyn Foundation, that drew a truly intergener­ational audience for a brilliant Sunday afternoon gig.”

Katie Mac, performed to a multi-generation­al audience, from babes in arms to grandparen­ts.

The audience enjoyed hearing songs from Liz Lawrence’s latest release, ‘Pity Party’ including None Of My Friends and Navigator in the intimate space, surrounded by bookshelve­s.

In feedback collected by the organisati­on, attendees commented: “It was an amazing experience and I wish I could do it all again, loved it and so did my children” and “Great atmosphere and good to see plenty of kids there.”

All organisati­ons will now have their Fantastic For Families Awards nomination­s reviewed by a panel of expert judges from the creative sector, with winners being announced on September 9, 2020.

Since 2005, Get It Loud In Libraries has been programmin­g high quality, live music events in libraries in towns and cities throughout the UK.

They consistent­ly demonstrat­e a unique talent for identifyin­g new and emerging artists on the cusp of breaking through to the mainstream.
