There were also top marks for Emily Ashcroft, who received four 9s, three 8s and a 7, Kieran O’Dea, who got one 9, five 8s and two 7s, and Ryan Wheeler, who got one 9, three 8s and three 7s.
At Ormiston Sandymoor Academy, part of the same trust as Ormiston Chadwick, there were successes for Jennifer Knowles and Amelia Garton Pope, who both achieved five 9s – Amelia also scooping two 8s.
They are both going to Sir John Deane’s College, Amelia to study English, Spanish, psychology and dance and Jennifer to do art, chemistry and biology. Other successes at the school included Ebonee Davies, with three grade 9s and two grade 8s, Joseph Connelly with one 9 and five 8s and Daniel Boyle with two 9s and four 8s.
Principal Sally Jones said: “It has been a challenging year, but we are so proud of the way in which our students have pulled together and remained committed and positive throughout.
“Our school is on a journey and despite the unique circumstances of this year, we will continue to lead Sandymoor with a clear vision that every pupil is given the best opportunities, regardless of starting points or barriers to learning. A huge congratulations to all our GCSE students, who are now embarking on their next steps”.
The third Halton school in the Ormiston Academies group, Ormiston Bolingbroke in Murdishaw, saw successes in a range of subjects.
Brandon Lee-Barton, for instance, secured a 9, four 8s, three 7s and a 6, while Engy Hamido Desouki secured two 9s, four 8s, two 7s and a 6 to go along with the 9 she already had in Arabic and a Distinction* in health and social care.
Kathryn Evans, principal at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy, said: “We have been so proud of the way in which all of our students have pulled together during such an unusual and uncertain time, showing such resilience and positivity.
“The grades that our Year 11 students have achieved today are recognition of five years of hard work and commitment and all of our students should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
“I wish them all every success in the next stage of their education and look forward to welcoming those who are returning to the sixth form.”
