-

A RUNCORN school has been hailed as setting an “example” after 93.4% of its students returned to class on the first day back.

St Chad’s Catholic and Church of England High School began teaching again in the first week of September ending months of disruption caused by the pandemic.

Heather Aaron, the secondary’s executive head, said she was proud of pupils, parents and staff.

She said: “Today we were delighted to welcome all staff and students as we returned to St Chad’s Catholic and Church of England

High School.

“Following the long period of home schooling it was important to us to allow every pupil to return to school immediately so that they can restart their lessons with their teachers and peers.

“It was wonderful to see them all and, despite the rain, a great day was had by all.

I would like to thank all our parents for their support.”

Cllr Tom McInerney, Halton Borough Council’s executive board member for children, young people and families, also congratulated the school.

He said: “St Chad’s has proved an example to others up and down the country.”
