Town men among four arrested over cannabis farm
TWO men from Runcorn were among four suspects arrested after police uncovered a cannabis farm in Garston.
Officers from Merseyside’s Matrix team executed a warrant at a property on Lowbridge Court at 6pm on Monday.
Inside they found 16 plants and a “large quantity of cannabis” across two rooms as well as equipment.
Four men inside were detained: two men from Runcorn aged 21 and 24-years-old, and two men from Speke aged 21 and 29-years-old.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said all were arrested on suspicion of cannabis production and possession with intent to supply the Class B drug cannabis.
They were taken into custody for questioning.
Inspector Colin Dyer said: “Cannabis farms within our communities cause so much risk and harm, and it’s good news for those in the area that this one has been removed, and four men arrested.
“The growth, storage and sale of cannabis brings many risks to our communities. It is far from a victimless crime.
“Drug supply is closely linked to serious organised criminals and violence, and in removing such farms, we’re making your communities safer.
“Stand with us and tell us if you suspect similar is happening where you are.”
A Merseyside Police spokesman said signs that can indicate a building is being used for a cannabis farm include “strange smells”, comings and goings, gardening equipment and fertiliser, covered windows and birds gathering on the roof in cold weather.
