Driving offenders receive their punishments
A DRINK-DRIVER from Runcorn has received a four-year road ban.
Philip Dennis Ellis, 34, of Juniper Grove, Murdishaw, blew 120 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres (ug/dl) of breath when pulled over in a Renault Megane on Scotland Road in Warrington on August 14.
This was more than three times the legal limit of 35ug/dl.
Ellis had previously pleaded guilty on August 17 and at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court on September 14 was banned from driving for four years, and made subject to a community order with a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement, six months of alcohol treatment with the Change Grow Live group and 120 hours of unpaid work to be completed.
He must also complete a 14-day drink-impaired drivers programme and pay £95 towards victim services.
A Runcorn driver has been disqualified for a year after being caught behind the wheel above the legal amphetamine limit. Phillip Paul Appleton, 37, of
King James Court, Hallwood Park, appeared at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court on September 15, where he pleaded guilty.
He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £117 in victim surcharge and prosecution costs.
Court papers said Appleton was driving a Vauxhall Astra on Windlebrook Crescent in Windle, Merseyside, on January 17, and a blood test found he was above the legal driving limit for the Class B drug amphetamine, known colloquially as “speed”, at the threshold limit of 250 micrograms per litre.
A Manchester man caught behind the wheel at over twice the drink-drive limit has been handed a six-month ban.
Ali Raza, 28, of Greenhill Road, pleaded not guilty on July 15 but was convicted on September 14.
Court papers said Raza was caught driving a VW Golf on Blundell Road on March 30 with 76 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, well over the legal limit of 35.
He was also fined £250 and told to be ay £117 to victim services and prosecution costs.
