Mutual benefit behind Bay’s Linnets’ link-up
squad, and with added reinforcements, Colwyn Bay will certainly be ready to compete in what is rumoured to be three different competitions.
For the Linnets, there isn’t an immediate benefit as in essence, four of their starting 11 players have left. However, with no football planned, there isn’t really a need for them to be at the club at the minute – they are better off signing with a club who actually have a chance of competing again this campaign.
What it does do is enhance an already strong relationship between McIntyre’s Linnets and Craig Hogg’s Colwyn Bay. When football does start again, this strong relationship could prove to be a very important one in furthering the success of both sides.
So what now? Essentially, nothing has changed – it still remains a waiting game.
The Northern Premier League announced that all fixtures had been suspended up to and including March 6, with an admission that it was highly unlikely that the season would be able to resume. For the Bay, it is a similar scenario in waiting to see when exactly they can begin their JD Cymru North campaign.
While it is still unlikely that we are going to see any football played soon, it is pleasing to know that four of the Linnets’ top performers have a chance to lace up their boots at some point this season.
Hopefully, when ‘nonelite’ football does resume, Short and Lycett will be back at the Millbank, having convinced Downes and McCready to join them!
