Mobile booth on wheels set up in care home so loved ones can visit

-

A COVID-SECURE visiting booth has been installed at Millbrow care home in Widnes to help residents see and speak to their families once again.

The visiting booth was built free of charge by a friend of the home, Dave Gregg, who also made a clear, portable screen for residents who can’t get out of bed, so they can also have visitors.

The booth is attractively decorated, made of thin ply with a clear screen so that people can see and hear each other well. The mobile screen is three-sided and on wheels so it can be moved around. Both can be taken apart for storage if required.

Lynne Moss, manager of the Halton Borough Council-run home, said: “The booth looks very stylish and is really well made.

“Dave came into Millbrow to discuss what I wanted and measured up, and I then asked if there was any chance he could make a mobile screen for residents who cannot get out of bed for health reasons.

“So he went away and produced the mobile screen and then came back to the home to assemble the booth on site.

“The residents and staff were really impressed and looking forward to making good use of both items. These will really make a difference to both the residents and relatives being able to be close to each other once again.”

Dave, a paediatric occupational therapist for Halton Borough Council, said: “I’m just glad that they can now have their families and friends visit them in a safe environment and hope they make good use of them. Making them was just a small gesture in the whole scheme of things.”

Cllr Tom McInerney, the council’s portfolio holder for care homes, added: “It is wonderful that the residents of Millbrow are now being reunited with their loved ones after all this time. Well done and thank you to Dave – what a fantastic gesture.”
