Hospital radio stations’ day of thanks for NHS and social care pandemic efforts

-

TWO hospital radio stations spent a day thanking NHS and social care staff for their work during the pandemic.

In February, Radio General and Radio Halton joined community radio station Soho radio and a number of celebrities to host the 12 hour radio day.

The stations based in Warrington and Halton in Cheshire, had a day playing music and sharing inspirational NHS staff and patient stories.

Radio General and Radio Halton have been unable to have their normal interaction with patients during the pandemic and they have had limited access to their studios. The team though were determined to find a way to thank staff for their work and reach out to patients in the hospitals.

To help deliver the day Soho Radio, offered their assistance to deliver synchronised broadcasts.

They provided their expertise, style and contacts book to help give hospital staff a boost.

DJs, who included former Blue Peter presenter Ayo Akinwolere (pictured), presented their shows remotely through video conferencing software and online broadcast channels, with the help of the hospital radio presenters.

Keith Inman and Derek Gates who work on the hospital radio stations said: “Both radio stations are very pleased to be part of this special day and to be able to say thank you to all our NHS staff and carers for all of their hard work and dedication, especially during the pandemic.

“It will enable us to build positively for the future and continue to support them all through the months ahead.”
