So much of that did not ring true to me

-

I HAVEN’T seen the full interview with Meghan Markle yet, but I’m afraid from what I have seen already that there are aspects of what she has said that don’t ring true.

She said she felt lonely and she would wake up at night feeling suicidal. I wonder why she didn’t give Harry a nudge in the night and tell him she was lonely.

She seemed surprised by how things operate within the Royal household, yet we all know there are great privileges which come with being a member of the royal family, but alongside that it also requires the members of the royal family to make sacrifices in their personal life, and requires dedication to the duties which they are expected to carry out.

There is no way that Meghan would not have had all that fully explained to her by Harry before they were engaged. He was well-versed in what is expected from anyone who joins the royal family.

She has also complained that she was informed that her child would not have a royal title – surprise surprise, Princess Anne’s and Prince Edward’s children don’t have royal titles and they are the Queen’s grandchildren, not great grandchildren.

She may well be very much in love with Harry, but I think she fell in love with the idea of the fame it would bring her if she married Harry and thought once she was in place, she would be able to manipulate things to suit herself – and when she couldn’t do that, started to spit her dummy out and wanted to go back to the States.

Don’t forget that before she met Harry she was an actress, and she used those skills to her advantage in the interview, trying to look vulnerable. She has had 12 months to write this script and organise a big payday from her best mate Oprah Winfrey, who was at her wedding.

I can still remember a television interview with her sister before the wedding, when she said ‘watch out for her, she causes trouble wherever she goes.’
