CHAIRMAN’S UPDATE

-

DAVE JONES RUNCORN LINNETS

● Return to Training: Both the Men’s and Ladies team have returned to training and it was great to see them all back at the Millbank.

I was very impressed with how the Ladies looked in training, they looked fit and sharp (although that didn’t stop the coaches putting them through their paces!), especially considering how long they’ve been away, and I am expecting good things from them in the future. The club will be taking a more active role with the Ladies including improving their match day experience and supporting their search for sponsorship money.

The men looked similarly fit and sharp and they had all obviously been keeping themselves fit during the lockdown. In the coming weeks we will be announcing players who have committed to the Linnets for the 2021/22 season, so stay tuned.

● Linnets Juniors: The Akidamey restarted on Sunday and I took my two sons along who absolutely loved it and it was apparent that all the other boys and girls did too. The Akidamey is a great way to introduce young children to coached football and is also good for children who want to play but may not want to join a team. All the coaches are patient and enthusiastic and ensure that all the kids have a great time. If you have children between the ages of 4 and 11 that want to get involved in football, then I highly recommend taking them along to a session.

Please check the Akidamey website for details.

I am up at the Linnets a lot and it’s always amazing to see so many kids up there enjoying their football but none of that would be possible without the dozens of Linnets Juniors coaches that give up their free time to give over 400 kids the opportunity to play and enjoy football. We should be very proud of that and proud of all those coaches. On behalf of Runcorn Linnets Football Club, I would like to thank them all.

With each passing week, we get closer to the return of football and I really cannot wait to welcome you all back to the Millbank. Until then, stay safe, keep well and I’ll see you soon.
