Man hit in trio’s robbery bid

A MAN was hit with a plastic bag filled with heavy items as he walked his dog during the morning of September 1.

The man was approached by three thugs who attempted to steal his mobile phone. One of the men carried out the attack using a red plastic bag.

The victim, aged 49, was walking his dog through woods at the Town Park near Norton Lane when he was approached.

The robbers demanded his phone and grabbed his arms but the victim resisted and they fled down a path towards Phoenix Park.

The thug holding the red bag was described as white, aged in his 40s with receding grey hair and a gaunt complexion.

He was wearing a black tracksuit and trainers with a dark T-shirt.

Another of the thugs was described white, in his 40s and wearing dark coloured tracksuit bottoms and a lightweigh­t shell coat.

The third man was believed to be in his 40s.

Enquiries have been ongoing and officers from Cheshire Police have appealed for any informatio­n that might assist the investigat­ion.

Detective Constable Faye Taylor, of Runcorn CID, said: “While we continue with the investigat­ion I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and may have seen these men or them attempting to rob the victim to come forward.

“If you recognise their descriptio­n or have CCTV or dash cam footage of them entering and exiting the park that morning then please get in touch.”
