Dealer jailed after stop on M-way

-

DRUG dealer Sam Walker was jailed again after being stopped on the motorway in a Maserati.

The 38-year-old was found to be driving the luxury car, with 3kg of cannabis inside, while disqualified.

Officers pulled the car over on the M56, near Runcorn, on Sunday, August 29, 2021.

Following the stop, Walker was arrested and charged with a number of driving offences and over the cannabis haul . He was also charged with possession of counterfeit currency after £3,800 of fake bank notes were also found inside the car.

Walker pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis, driving while disqualified and without insurance. He pleaded not guilty to holding counterfeit currency, claiming the money was used for playing poker with friends.

At the time he pleaded guilty to the other offences Michael Davies, defending, outlined the defence’s case that it would argue the notes were of “such poor quality it could never be mistaken for real money”. Jayne Morris, prosecuting, added Walker had said it was intended for use playing poker “like Monopoly money”.

At a trial last week, Walker was found not guilty after two days in regards to the counterfeit currency. He was sent for sentencing over the cannabis conviction and driving offences.

On Thursday, March 24, a judge at Chester Crown Court sentenced Walker, of Beetham Plaza in Liverpool city centre, to 15 months in prison. He was also banned from driving for three years with an uplift to three and a half years, to reflect time to serve in prison.
