HATTON CUP PRELIMS MILL BROW A V HAMMER B

THE Brow A eased into the quarter finals by taking the first four legs. Peter Fisher followed by Tom Callaghan, Craig Winstanley and Ant Hitchmough. Duane Lawton won the last for the Hammer but not the match.

MILL BROW B V SIMM’S CROSS INST. B

THE Brow B went 2 points up with legs from Paul Linger and Clive Rule. The Stute B hit back in the next with a win from Dave Evans, Brian Spruce (180) in defeat. The match was settled by Kieran Stringer (17 darts) and Dave Powell for the Brow B setting up a quarter final against the Brow A.

MILLFIELD B V MILLFIELD A

THE Milly A struck first with a leg from Gaz Bason. Ronnie Greylish levelled the tie before Ian Wall and Mike Howard sealed things for the A. Chris Taylor won the last for the B but it was the Milly A who progressed to the last eight.

HAMMER A V WIDNES BC BB

THE Bowling Club BB progressed to the last eight by taking all five legs. Wins from John Kilkenny, Joe Price, Colin Rigby, Jonny Leather and Danny Magee to set up a quarter final tie against the Millfield A.

QUARTER FINALS

SIMM’S CROSS INST. A V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB BA

THE Bowler BA were on their game as they white washed their opponents. Terry Roach, Kev Garcia, Alan Magee (152 away), Robbie Gorst and John Bowles completed the victory.

BALL V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB A

THE Ball went 2 legs up with wins from Rob Gatcliffe and Anthony Hall. The Bowler A responded by taking the last three to book their place in the last four. Mathew Drury, Rob Magee and anchor man Dave Gerrard doing the business.

MILL BROW A V MILL BROW B

KEV Helps put the A ahead only for Brian Spruce to level the match in the next. Peter Fisher restored the A’s lead but wins from Kieran Stringer and Dave Powell sent the Brow B into the semi finals.

MILLFIELD A V WIDNES BC BB

THE Milly A went one up with a leg from Mike Howard. Jonny Leather evened things up before Tony Jackson restored Milly’s lead. Joe Price took the match to the wire and the Bowling Club BB progressed to the four with a deciding leg win from Danny Magee.

SEMI FINALS

WIDNES BOWLING CLUB BA V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB A

THE Widnes Bowling Club BA raced into a four leg lead with wins from John Bowles, Terry Roach, Kev Garcia and Alan Magee (180). Scott Grady took the last for the Bowler A but it was the Bowler BA who reached the final.

MILL BROW B V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB BB

DAVE Powell put the Brow B into an early lead before Joe Price and Danny Magee hit back for the Bowler BB. Clive Rule levelled things to take it to a deciding leg in which Colin Rigby (110 away) hit the vital double for the BB to set up a final clash against the Bowler BA.

FINAL

WIDNES BOWLING CLUB BA V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB BB

THE Widnes BC BA proved too strong for the BB and proved worthy champions. Wins from Alan Magee (17 darts), John Bowles and Robbie Gorst secured the Hatton Cup for the 2021-2022 season.

BALL A V SIMM’S CROSS INST.

THE Ball started well and were soon two legs up through Anthony Hall and Martin Ball. The Stute hit back by taking the next three with wins from Andy Abbott and the first two pairs with Andy returning with Brian Dutton and Stu Pennington & Peter Phillips. Karl Whitfield & Nathan Sivills tied the match at three and Karl returned to take the next (16 darts).

Brian Dutton took the match to a deciding leg but it was Nathan Sivills who took the leg and points for the home side.

BALL B V WIDNES CC

JAMES Tyghe put Ball B in front before Ian Sharples tied things up.

Ben Hogan restored the lead but a run of five games by the Cricket Club secured the victory. Carl Bryan & Phil Slavin, Dave Herley & Matty Fisher and Billy Cain & Ernie Griffith swept the pairs. Matty Fisher and Trevor Chadwick continued the run and it was the home team’s Ste Cowley who took the last but not the points.
