WIDNES AND DISTRICT DARTS LEAGUE

A GRAND total of 63 players entered this season’s RTB individual­s contest at Widnes

Bowling Club, resulting in a preliminar­y round of 31 matches and one bye to the first round.

The competitio­n was played down to the last four and the semi finals and final will take place on ‘Finals Night.’

In the Prelims, Dave Gerrard went through to round one with a 2-0 win. Tony Green, Keith Glover and Phil Slavin (9 darts) progressed by 2-1. Danny Magee and Alan Magee (12 darts) got through by a 2-0 score line and Ian Wall and Ray Linger were winners by 2-1.

Keith Horabin won in straight legs and Chris Taylor won a close one by two legs to one.

Glen Owen and Andy Abbott won without dropping a leg and Phil Corless, Dave Powell and Kris Kavanagh (18 darts) went through on a deciding leg.

Duane Lawton, Karl Whitfield (16 darts), Paul

Linger, Nathan Sivills and Carl Bryan progressed in straight legs.

John Barber and Scott Grady won last leg deciders and Anthony Hall and Alex McGill went through by 2-0. Brian Dwyer reached round 1 with a 2-1 victory and Mike Howard (15 & 11 darts), Mike Callaghan, Paul Murty, Rob Gatcliffe and Adam Mellor won in straight legs. Peter Jerram won the last preliminar­y round game by a score of 2-1 with Joe Kelly getting the bye.

Round 1 saw Tony Green and Phil Slavin progress by a score line of 2-1

Danny Magee (18 darts), Ian Wall, Keith Horabin and Andy Abbott got through 2-0.

Dave Powell (10 darts) edged a close game in the deciding leg and Duane Lawton won his match without dropping a leg. Paul Linger, Carl Bryan (14 darts), John Barber and Anthony Hall each progressed with 2-1 victories. Mike Howard (12 darts) went through in straight legs. Mike Callaghan won 2-1 and Adam Mellor (15 & 9 darts) and Joe Kelly reached round 2 with 2-0 wins.
