1966 Dis­tance Run­ning News, which would evolve into Run­ner’s World, launches in the US.

1969 US dis­tance run­ner Cher­rie Bridges is the first wo­man on the cover.

1970 The mag­a­zine be­comes Run­ner’s World in the US.

1979 In the UK, Jog­ging Mag­a­zine, which will be taken over by the RW team, launches.

1981 Ac­tress Au­drey Lan­ders ( Dal­las’s Afton Cooper) and her sis­ter Judy (also an ac­tress) grace the US cover. We’re not sure why, but it was the 1980s.

1986 RW marks its 20th an­niver­sary in the US.

1992 World Ger­many launches.

1993 Jog­ging Mag­a­zine changes its name and Run­ner’s World de­buts on UK news­stands.
